South Australia Police was formed on 28 April 1838. The jurisdiction of South Australia covers a vast area of almost one million square kilometres, with a population of over 1,500,000. More than 5,000 police and support staff work across 13 Local Service Areas in the State to reduce crime and keep SA safe.
