This is a Capture the Flag like no other, a global phenomenon born in Estonia and now run in dozens of countries around the world, Cyber Battle Australia is not to be missed!
What is Cyber Battle?
Cyber Battle is a Capture the Flag (CTF) style event that uses mission-based learning, where participants play and compete in rounds of cyber security exercises.
Players apply their acquired cyber skills to collect “flags” within a provided virtual IT environment using a world-class, NATO-awarded cyber range.
This event is designed by Estonian cyber companies CTF Tech and CyberExer, who also help design the annual NATO Locked Shields exercise.
Who can take part?
- Students from VET and higher education institutions across the country, as well as recent graduates and career changers, can participate in the Cyber Battle 2026 competition
- Participation does not require prior cyber security knowledge or experience
- You can register if you are 18 years or older as of 1st April 2026
- You can register if you are a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, a citizen of New Zealand or any current NATO country.
How do I register?

- Registration is completely free of charge
- One person only per registration entry. Teams will be formed in person during Bootcamp round for Qualification round.
- Training Bootcamps will take place nationally. Please select the state where you will be attending the Bootcamp in person when registering
- If your team is successful in securing a place in the Grand Final, this event is an in-person event only that takes place in Melbourne, Australia. TAFE student’s flights and accommodation costs are provided as a complimentary inclusion when securing a place in Grand Final exercise only.

More than 300 participants from across the country will join live bootcamps and receive expert training and mentoring from Cyber Battle industry partners - 4 hourChallenge
Qualifying Round - May 2026
An in person CTF competition where teams of students will face off in a 4-hour challenge. The top 25 teams will advance to the Cyber Battle Grand Final. - 6 hourGrand Final
Grand Final - July 2026
The ultimate 6 hour, in person CTF competition will be hosted in Melbourne Australia.
